BRING YOUR OWN PICNIC
You can choose to bring your own picnic and take advantage of the numerous relaxation areas in the park.
There is a self-service drinking water fountain and a microwave oven to heat your child's meal.
If you don't want to bother with your picnic during your visit to the park, you can go out and then come back in, with a simple little stamp on your wrist. Pretty convenient !
Info Covid-19: Picnicking is always possible. We ask you not to change the layout of the tables which respects the sanitary distance measures.
Souvenirs, souvenirs...
At the end of your visit, you will pass through our souvenir shop. It is also accessible independently of the visit to the Valley of the Tortoises.
Figurines, books, stationery, decorations, crockery, jewellery, soft toys, wooden sculptures, ready-to-wear... as many choices as everyone can find what they are looking for.
Cold drinks and ice creams are also available, to be consumed during your visit or outside the park.
It is also through the shop that you can go out, with a stamp on your wrist, which will allow you to return to the park.
To answer your most frequent questions.
Mobile application
The "Valleedestortues" mobile application is available in English. Download it now to help you prepare your visit and accompany you on your discovery of the park!
Free parking
Parking is free of charge.
The car park can accommodate cars, bicycles, camper vans, motorbikes, etc. We can keep your helmets at the reception desk.
Means of payment
On site, you can pay your entrance fees with the following methods of payment: cash (except for 100€, 200€ and 500€ banknotes), credit cards, "Chèques vacances".
Don't forget that when you buy your tickets on our ONLINE TICKETS, you save 1€ per ticket!
Clothing comfort
We advise you to wear comfortable clothing adapted to the weather. It is not necessary to wear hiking boots, but heeled pumps are not the best choice!
In summer, even if a good part of the park is shaded, think about sun protection for you and your children.
Freshness!
In the summer, in the forest part of the park, you will find a misting trail to cool young and old in the shade of the trees.
We are also thinking of our elders: the park is shaded over a good part of the course and has many benches to take a break if necessary.
Stamp
It is possible for you to leave the park and then return (within the same day) with an exit stamp which is applied to you in the shop.
Picnic
Picnics are allowed in the park. You will find many tables and bins at your disposal. A drinking water fountain and a microwave oven are at your disposal.
Rain
In rainy weather, we advise you not to come and visit us. The park is mostly outdoors and although it is not "the slush", the visit is really less pleasant.
If it's only a temporary rain shower, no problem! The tortoises love these refreshing rains and it is possible to take shelter while the clouds pass.
When is the best time to visit the park?
It is nice to arrive early to enjoy the serenity of the valley early in the morning. But the most interesting part starts at about 11 AM, when the keeper talks starts.
Don't come too late in the day, the animals are resting and there are fewer organized activities.
How long does the visit last?
It takes an average of 2 hours to visit the park but most families spend half a day among the tortoises. If you want to enjoy the whole park, the play and relaxation area and above all the keeper talks it will be nothing too much!
We remind you that the organized activities are included in the entrance fee and we advise you to attend at least one keeper talk.
Visit with baby
We have baby changing facilities in the toilets and a microwave to heat up baby food for young children. There is no age limit to spend a pleasant moment in the Valley of the Tortoises! Beware of pushchairs: our novelties have been designed to facilitate access to the pushchairs but the surface of the park makes it difficult to access pushchairs with small wheels.
Pushchairs
Our new facilities are designed to facilitate access for pushchairs. However, the old infrastructure and especially the surface of the park (large gravel) make it difficult for pushchairs to get around, especially those with small wheels. For pushchairs with large wheels or all-terrain pushchairs, this problem is less acute. In general, the park is accessible to pushchairs, but it is difficult for them to move forward in some places.
Disabled people
For people with disabilities, our novelties are designed to facilitate their access and our toilets are equipped. However, the old infrastructure and especially the surface of the park make it difficult for people in non-motorised wheelchairs to access. We are gradually remedying this problem and apply special rates at the entrance to the park.
Dogs on a leash
If kept on a leash, your four-legged friend is also allowed to visit the park. Dogs must not chase peacocks and chickens on the loose and are not allowed in the enclosures. A drinking water fountain is freely available as well as poop bags. We kindly ask the dog's master to respect the cleanliness of the park and to pick up their companion's droppings, otherwise we will unfortunately end up banning dogs.
Welcoming foreigners
Foreigners from all over the world are welcome at the park! We offer a map translated into many languages and we provide a tour guide to help you enjoy your visit to the Valley of the Tortoises.
I would like to book for a group, is this possible?
Yes.
More information on this subject in the dedicated section. Do not hesitate to contact us!
Do you have special offers for works councils?
Yes.
Contact the sales department for information on the best formulas for works councils.
I have just found a tortoise in the wild, what should I do?
Turtles and tortoises in France are totally protected. You must not under any circumstances remove them from their natural environment and, if you have already done so, you must imperatively release them in the same place.
Have you found an exotic turtle, such as the Florida turtle (a freshwater turtle usually recognisable by its red temples)? It is important to know that from the moment you collect it, it is under your responsibility. You can take it to the nearest refuge. Here is the number of the Refuge des tortues in Bessières (31660) which will be able to direct you: 05 32 53 67 35.
La Vallée des Tortues is not a refuge and has no right to collect the turtles and tortoises found.
I lost my keys during the visit. What can I do?
Turtles are special, they don't eat metal objects ... well, until today!
If your keys have been found, they are surely at your disposal at the park's reception desk.
Please contact us and we will send them to you by post as soon as possible.
Is there smoking area in the park?
No, the park is non-smoking due to the presence of children on the site, animals of course but also the omnipresent forest. We would be grateful if you could smoke outside the park grounds. During your visit you can go outside to smoke and then come back.
Are the keeper talks in the entrance ticket?
Yes, the entrance fee includes access to the park (tortoises area - playground - forest area) and all the keeper talks that are part of the park's discovery.
You will be able to attend the visits, meet a snake, see the feeding of marmosets... This is why we strongly advise you to consult the entertainment schedules to prepare your visit as well as possible.
